Remotes in Flipper Mobile App
With Infrared Remotes in Flipper Mobile App, you can easily control a wide range of devices, such as TVs, projectors, fans, and others. Simply select a remote in the app, point your Flipper Zero at the device, and control the device using an intuitive layout on your phone screen.
Unlike the Universal Remotes feature, which sends out a whole dictionary of signals each time to try and find a match, the mobile app lets you pick the right remote once and save it for future use, which is much faster. This feature also goes beyond the limitations of universal remotes — it offers more buttons, supports a wider range of devices, and lets you control additional parameters of your devices.

The Remotes Library feature in Flipper Mobile App helps you find the right IR signals for your device from a database. Once selected, the signal is downloaded to your Flipper Zero and can be played back via the mobile app or directly from Flipper Zero.
You can find IR signals for a variety of devices, including:
- TV
- Projector
- TV Box
- Fan
- Air Purifier
- DVD Player
- Camera
- AV Receiver
The IR remote database is open-source and available on GitHub. You’re welcome to contribute to the database — learn more in the Contribution Guide.
Open Flipper Mobile App and go to Main Menu -> Tools -> Remotes Library.
Select the device type from the list of available options.
Choose the brand of your device from the list of manufacturers.
Since some brands have multiple remotes, the app will test different signals to find the right remote.
Point your Flipper Zero at the device, tap the button to send a signal, and confirm if your device responds.
Once the remote is found, the app will display its layout. You can now use this remote to control your device.
To save the remote, tap Save in the upper-right corner and enter the remote name.
(Optional) To add the remote to your favorites for quick access from the Archive tab, tap the (⋯) button and select Add to Favorites.
You can access and use your saved IR remotes in two ways:
- Using Flipper Mobile App and Flipper Zero — This option allows you to use the intuitive layout of a virtual IR remote on the screen of your phone. The mobile app serves as a controller, instructing the Flipper Zero to send the selected signal, which the Flipper Zero then plays back.
- Only Flipper Zero — In this case, you will navigate through the list of saved signals on your Flipper Zero to select the desired signal.
Let’s take a more detailed look at each of these methods below.
Open Flipper Mobile App and go to Main Menu -> Archive -> Infrared.
If the remote was added to Favorites, it will be available right on the Archive tab.
Select the saved remote from the list — you’ll see the remote layout.
Point your Flipper Zero at the device and tap the desired button in the mobile app to control the device.
On your Flipper Zero, go to Main Menu -> Infrared -> Saved.
Select the saved remote.
Select the signal you want to send to your device using the %up%UP and %down%DOWN buttons, then press %ok%OK.
