Firmware update

We’ll be releasing firmware updates for the Video Game Module. To install them, you’ll need to use the Video Game Module Tool from our Apps Catalog. On this page, you’ll learn how to update module firmware via Flipper Zero.

Installing the Video Game Module Tool
The first step to updating your module firmware is installing the app on your Flipper Zero:

On your smartphone, open the Flipper Mobile App.

Go to Apps.

Tap the Search icon, then type Video Game Module Tool.
﻿

Once the app is found, tap the INSTALL button.

Video Game Module Tool menu
In the Video Game Module Tool, you can install official or custom firmware on the module.

Install Official Firmware: installs the latest official firmware on the module (official firmware comes bundled with the app).

Install Firmware from File: installs custom firmware on the module from a file (custom firmware needs to be transferred to Flipper Zero manually).

Installing the official module firmware
To update the module firmware for the first time, do the following:

Connect the Video Game Module to your Flipper Zero.

On your Flipper Zero, go to Main Menu -> Apps -> Tools -> Video Game Module Tool.

In the app, select the Install Official Firmware option.

Confirm installation by pressing Install%right%.

Once the module firmware is installed, you’ll see a message: Video Game Module Updated.

What if a firmware update is available?

     If you want to update the firmware of your Video Game Module, you must first update the Video Game Module Tool app on your Flipper Zero. Only after that can you install the firmware on the module. To install the latest official firmware on the Video Game Module, do the following:

Tap Installed to show all installed apps.

Find the Video Game Module Tool and tap the UPDATE button.

Connect the Video Game Module to your Flipper Zero.

On your Flipper Zero, go to Main Menu -> Apps -> Tools -> Video Game Module Tool.

In the app, select the Install Official Firmware option.

Once the latest module firmware is installed, you’ll see a message: Video Game Module Updated.
