Quick start guide

Get started with the Video Game Module for your Flipper Zero! On this page, you’ll learn how to install the Video Game Module and connect it to your TV.

Installing the module
The Video Game Module comes with a silicone bumper to fit tightly on Flipper Zero without a silicone case. Therefore, if your Flipper Zero is in a case, you must remove the bumper before installing the Video Game Module.

Updating Flipper Zero firmware (required)
The Video Game Module requires Flipper Zero firmware version 0.98.3 or later. Please update the firmware on your Flipper Zero before using the module. You can update the firmware via the Flipper Mobile App:

Download the Flipper Mobile App to your smartphone.

Connect your smartphone to your Flipper Zero.
Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone.
Activate Bluetooth on your Flipper Zero by going to Main Menu -> Settings -> Bluetooth.
On your smartphone, open the Flipper Mobile App and tap Connect.
On the next page, next to the detected Flipper Zero’s name, tap Connect.

Enter the pairing code displayed on the Flipper Zero screen.
Tap Pair to finalize pairing.

Update Flipper Zero firmware via the Flipper Mobile App.
In the Main Menu tab, tap the UPDATE button.
Tap the Update button to confirm the action.

The update process usually takes 2-3 minutes.
After updating the firmware, Flipper Zero will automatically detect the Video Game Module and prepare it for use.

     If your Video Game Module isn’t detected, make sure that on your Flipper Zero in <b>Main Menu -> Settings -> Expansion Modules</b>, the <b>Listen UART</b> option is set to <b>USART</b>. The module won’t be detected if any other option is selected.

Connecting to your TV
Once your Flipper Zero is updated and the Video Game Module is connected, you’re ready to mirror the screen to your TV by doing the following:

Plug the TV cable into the Video Out port on your Video Game Module.

On your TV, go to Settings and select the input source the module is connected to.

If you see ”Video Game Module not initialized“
Please note that if you skip the firmware update step, you won’t be able to connect your Flipper Zero to your TV. In this case, you’ll see a message on the TV screen: Video Game Module not initialized. To resolve this issue, update Flipper Zero firmware as described here.
